It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

This photo is sort of a early-days shot of valet service.  According to SF Images “the Carriage Entrance of the Palace Hotel was used for grand entrances upon its opening in 1876. The area was renovated to become a restaurant due to guests’ complaints over the smell of manure.”

I’ve had bad valet service before, but never did the valets smell like manure.

This week’s photo was brought to you by Bennet Hall but if you love the image, or a variety of other historical SF Images, you can get them yourself, in a variety of sizes, to hang on your very own wall.

Don’t forget to check back next week for another glimpse of San Francisco.

And if you’d like to throw your photos into the pool of candidates for my SF Photo Friday collection, tag your SF Photos from Flickr with LubaSF.

Happy Friday!

Space Invaders! by you.

It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

I spent two weeks on a pseudo-vacation in Lake County, CA.  The photo above, though, has nothing to do it – it just makes me smile.    (Check out www.sfcameraphone.com to see a few of the silly photos I shot with my cameraphone while I WAS on vacation.)  I say “pseudo-vacation” because I still worked just about every day, including driving back to the City for a day to take care of a client in the midst of a real estate transaction.  It was inspection day, and I HATE to miss inspection day!  Yes, I am that dedicated.

This weekend, I’ll be being just as dedicated.  As usual, I’ll be working.  Though, there’s a good chance I’ll be spending a night out on the town with some girldfriends on Saturday night.  If you happen to see us out and about in the City, don’t be afraid to say “hi.”

Don’t forget to check back next week for another glimpse of San Francisco as seen through the eyes of Flickr’s photogs.

Last week, I put you all up to a challenge, and I haven’t gotten a correct response yet!  Common folks!  Put on your thinking caps!  Remember the first right answer get tix for 4 to the San Francisco Zoo!!!

In the meantime, thought I’d pick back up on my San Francisco photos.  I love the angle of the shot above…. reminds me of the way I first see a house as I’m fumbling with the keys to open up the gate show it to a client.

This weekend, it’ll be more of the same – looking at houses with clients, two property inspections and maybe, just maybe, after all of my hard work this weekend, there may be a little getaway planned.  In fact, I am taking a little unofficial time off, so expect postings to be light the next two weeks.

But I won’t forget you next week so don’t forget to check back for another glimpse of San Francisco as seen through the eyes of Flickr’s photogs.

San Francisco Rearranged

(Mystery Photo) originally uploaded on by Bennett Hall

Fridays, I like to do a little something I call SF Snapshots.  It’s a little break from real estate that gives you a glimpse into life in San Francisco.  I usually get the photos from Flickr.

But this week, I thought I’d try something a little different!

It’s (drumroll) … a MYSTERY PHOTO!

This week’s photos comes to you from Bennett Hall.  A little background on Bennett:

Bennett has been a photographer in San Francisco since 1972.  He’s native born, a graduate of SF State, ran a gallery at Market and Powell for 10 years and co-founded an organization that became the first Business Improvement District in San Francisco, originally in the City Center Partnership.

Along with taking his own snapshots, Bennett has digitally remastered quite a collection of historical San Francisco photos and has them for sale at his site, www.sfimages.com.

His historical photos have been on display all over San Francisco including Momo’s, Hills Plaza, San Francisco Bay Club and the United States District Court.

He and his company product art programs for businesses, hotels and hospitals and operate the first custom framing studio that is dedicated to “green practices.”

Now, back to the Mystery Photo!

I’ll be revealing where this photo was taken from next Friday.  If you’d like to take a stab at the vantage point, shoot me an email with your best guess.

Winner will get 4 free passes to The San Francisco Zoo.

Oh, and there can only be one winner – so first right answer takes the prize!

Don’t forget to check back next week for another awesome San Francisco photo.

  Grilled Cheese Invitational by dustyrhodes.

Grilled Cheese Invitational, originally uploaded on by dustyrhodes

It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

I missed last week’s Grilled Cheese Invitational.    As usual, I was working.  But I’m considering entering the Invitational next year.  Though it’s really, just a teensy weensy little thought – I hear the competition is FIERCE!  But I do love eating grilled cheese sammies, so I may just have to practice a variety of different recipe until I get it just right!

Now this weekend, there is no grilled cheese competition.  But there is a Wine Judging Competition!  And if there’s anything I like as much as I like cheese, it’s wine!!!  I’m far from being a connoisouer.  But hell, that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a glass or two – and that’s exactly what I’ll be doing Saturday!  AND along with the wine, there will be all sorts of artisan foods and goodies from local bay area companies.

If you happen to be at the competition and see me, be sure to flag me down and say “hi!”

And no matter what you do, I hope you have a great weekend!  Get out and enjoy something local and fun!

It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

We had a gorgeous day of San Francisco sunshine yesterday, and today is supposed to be beautiful too.  But tomorrow, I hear it’s going to rain again.  (Thus today’s San Francisco Snapshot.)

Rain is a bummer for me, because I’ll be hosting an open house and my biggest pet peeve is putting up and taking down open house signs in the rain.  But at least the open house itself is GORGEOUS, and has incredible views!

It’s 224 Twin Peaks Blvd and I’ll be hosting it Saturday the 21st from 2–4pm.

Don’t forget to bring your umbrellas if you’re going out this weekend, and drive safe!

Farmers Market San Francisco by Swami Stream.

Farmers Market San Francisco, originally uploaded on by Swami Stream

It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

It’s been a rough week here in Luba Land.  Two different clients lost out on two separate properties because they thought they had time to think about things.  After all, days on market has increased all over San Francisco.  But even in this weird real estate market, some properties move fast.  Of course, plenty don’t, and I’m sure we’ll find something else that fits their needs and budget soon enough.

I also have been living in a state of chaos for the last few days since my old computer crashed.  I’ve been painstakingly migrating my old files and software programs to a new machine and trying to stay organized in the process.  It’s been horrible, but it’s almost over.

So now, I decided I wanted to look at something pretty, and if your week was anything like mine, you might too. I’m not sure which of SF’s fabulous farmers markets this was taken at, but no matter which one, I’m sure the photographer left with more than just some awesome photos!

Don’t forget to check back next week for another glimpse of San Francisco as seen through the eyes of Flickr’s photogs.

It’s Photo Friday again here on Luba’s San Francisco Real Estate Blog!

It’s hard to believe another week has flown by.  I had all sorts of big plans for the week – go to the gym, go kayaking, get to the grocery store, get myself organized for another round of taxes, find the cure for the common cold, etc.  But aside from a couple of quick workouts, everything else pretty much just fell to the side when duty called instead – and as usual, duty will keep me working those crazy Realtor hours long through this rainy San Francisco weekend.  You might see me at Zephyr’s Noe Valley office writing an offer, you might see me running around SoMa and South Beach looking at properties with a client or you might see me hunkered down at a cafe working on some ideas for the blog – but if you see me this weekend, you’ll most likely see me with my nose to the grindstone.  Feel free to drop me a line to tell me about your weekend plans – I sometimes like to live vicariously through others.

Don’t forget to check back next week for another glimpse of San Francisco as seen through the eyes of Flickr’s photogs.

It’s supposed to be another nice weekend in San Francisco – sunny and in the mid-60’s.  Our summer weather isn’t even usually this nice, so it’s amazing to have all of this sunshine in January.  So while the weather is this lovely outside, get out there and enjoy all of the outdoor activities that San Francisco has to offer!

I’d like to be spending my weekend eating my way through the goodies at the Ferry Building.  But alas, I have a nasty cold.  So instead, I’ll be home in bed, catching up on work in between Nyquil naps.
